Spring starts with a slight chance of snow

Spring arrived at 9:57 a.m. today with a hint of winter hanging around. Forecasters were calling for a 30 percent chance of snow showers in Spokane and a 50 percent chance of snow in Coeur d’Alene through 1 p.m. today. Any possible precipitation this afternoon likely would be rain. Highs today should be in the middle 40s. More stable weather arrives for Friday through Sunday with mostly sunny skies in Spokane and highs in the upper 40s to near 50 on Sunday with lows in the middle to upper 20s. Clouds are expected to gather around the region’s mountains with a slight chance of showers in North Idaho on Saturday night. In the mountains, temperatures should stay cold for good skiing conditions with a 70 percent chance of snow today diminishing through the weekend. Highs will be at or near freezing.
