Follow empirical evidence

Responding to Don Hood’s March 15 rebuttal of Galen Goertzen’s March letter: Hood needs to read history, as well as bone up on meteorology.

Aristotle accepted the spherical Earth theory on empirical evidence around 330 B.C.

Even the Chinese believed the Earth was flat until the 17th century. We didn’t have to go to the moon to realize it wasn’t made of cheese.

Some people still don’t believe we even went to the moon. We have technology that is way beyond the beliefs of people just 100 years ago. Just as Aristotle accepted the spherical Earth theory without the benefit of today’s technology, scientists can prove that humans have had a major influence on Earth’s climate. Empirical evidence is key.

The forecasts of dramatic weather changes have already come to pass. Look at the wild weather this country has experienced this winter. How many more dramatic worldwide weather events do we have to experience to convince the naysayers?
