SPOKANE VALLEY –The Spokane Valley Mall is seeking nominations for a top performing teacher. The winning teacher will receive a $500 mall gift card.

Nominations for Celebrate Teachers can be made on the mall’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/spokanevalleymall, until Monday. Votes can be cast from April 10 to 22. The teacher who receives the most votes will be awarded the gift card May 6, National Teacher’s Day.

Volleyball tournament brings 600 teams to region

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Pacific Northwest Qualifier volleyball tournament is bringing more than 600 teams to the region this weekend and next.

The teams, with girls ages 12 to 18, come from around the country.

Matches run 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hub Sports Center, 19619 E. Cataldo Ave., Liberty Lake; the Spokane Convention Center in downtown Spokane; and Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The tournament continues 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and March 29 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 30.

Spokane Valley Quilters holding general meeting

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Valley Quilters will hold its general meeting April 1 at Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway Ave.

A potluck will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Karen Mathison, owner of Crystal Delights, will be the speaker.
