Obituary: Roberts, Jan

ROBERTS, Jan Jan Roberts, 73, of Reardan WA passed away March 8th, 2014.

She was born July 11th, 1940 in Ewan WA to parents James and June Hendrix.

She had two brothers, James “Jimmy” and John Hendrix Jan graduated from Reardan High School in 1958.

Afterwards she attended Eastern Washington University for accounting.

She had three sons with first husband Glen Manning (1959) and later was married to Conrad “Robbie” Roberts in 1978 until his passing in 2009.

She lived in Reardan for most of her life, working many years at the local restaurant The Red Rooster until she retired.

Retirement did not slow her down however, she was a pillar of the community participating in several different activates.

She was a volunteer firefighter/ EMT until retiring at age 70, taught fire safety at the Reardan school, worked on the Reardan-Edwall float for 10 years, was a member of the Mule Days committee, the planning committee, and most importantly was a devoted neighbor and friend to many of the people in the community.

She spent what free time she had quilting; doing family genealogy, deer hunting, making homemade jam and jelly, and keeping up with her large family.

She was a remarkable woman who accepted everyone and left a lasting impression on all those who were lucky enough to meet her.

The family, friends, and community have lost one of their most precious angels so she could be reunited with loved ones and the Lord in Heaven.

She is survived by her younger brother: John Hendrix, of Tum Tum, WA.

Her 8 children: Dale (Kathy) Roberts, of Medical Lake, WA; Cheryl Roberts, of Spokane, WA; David Roberts, of Reardan, WA; David Manning, of Puyallup, WA; Ken (Ann) Manning, of Seattle, WA; Torey Roberts, of Spokane, WA; Brian (Shannon) Manning, of Reardan, WA; and Jason (Hiedi) Roberts, of Mountain Home, ID.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held April 12th at the Reardan United Methodist Church at 1PM followed by a graveside service and a reception at the Reardan Fire Department.
