Obituary: Stelting, Clayton Arthur “Art”

Age 89

STELTING, Clayton Arthur “Art” Passed away on March 19, 2014.

Born in Clayton, WA.

June 8th, 1924.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Donna, in 1993.

Art is survived by his long time companion, Ann, of Spokane; daughter, Lori, of Newport, WA; son Marc and wife Catherine, of Blaine, WA.

Art graduated with the class of 1942 from Deer Park H.S.

He enlisted in the US Marine Corps upon graduation and served until June 1946.

Art participated in the landings on Bougainville and Guam with the 3rd Marine Division and Iwo Jima with the 5th Marine Division.

He retired from Pacific NW Bell in 1982 after 34 years.

He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Marine Corps League, 3rd Marine Div., VFW Post #51, Clayton/ Deer Park Historical Society, and honorary life member of Royal Marine Assn.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00PM - 6:00PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N. Division in Spokane.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Riplinger Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers Art’s wish was for contributions be made to Marine Corps League Spokane, Toys for Tots, or Clayton/Deer Park Historical Society.
