Idaho man says he shot wolf that killed colt

HAILEY, Idaho – A central Idaho man who killed a wolf Friday said the same animal killed a colt and attacked his dogs.

Kevin Swigert found the colt dead Feb. 13 on his ranch west of Hailey, the Twin Falls Times-News reported.

The predator returned and tangled with two of his border collies, he said, both of which survived.

The rancher had the correct hunting tag and didn’t break any laws when he shot the wolf, a state Department of Fish and Game spokesman said.

Fish and Game couldn’t verify that the animal Swigert shot was the same wolf that killed his colt.
