Obituary: Pizzillo, Angelo

Age 86

PIZZILLO, Angelo (Age 86) Was born on June 14, 1927 to mother, Angeline Sarro and father, Nazzareno Pizzillo in Spokane, WA and passed away on March 22, 2014 in Spokane, WA, where he resided the majority of his life.

Angelo attended Cooper Elementary school along with his sisters as well as Rogers High School.

Angelo was drafted for a short period of time into the Army and was inducted in August of 1945 at Fort Lewis army base in Seattle, WA and discharged in January of 1947.

Following his military service Angelo went to work for U.R.M.

briefly and then Bekins Van Lines.

During that time he met and married, Juanita Saccomanno and shortly after he quit Bekins he bought a tavern called the Three Aces, later selling it in 1958 and buying the Silver Dollar Tavern.

He later got out of the tavern business and opened up a trucking business as well as getting married for the second time in 1964 to Mary Flanigan.

Eventually Angelo went to work for the Spokane Transit Authority and remained there until he retired in 1994.

Angelo was very involved with his community and was president of the Spokane American Youth Hockey Association, and was an avid Spokane Chiefs hockey fan.

He was a founding member and past president of the American Italian Club.

In 1984 Angelo married his current wife, Deanie.

Angelo is survived by his wife, Deanie Pizzillo; his sons: Tony Pizzillo, and Steve Ensminger; his daughters: Sandra (Larry) Johnson, Kayla Pizzillo and Connie (Dave) Graham, his daughter-in-law, Kathy Pizzillo and Deanie’s sons: Troy (Tarina) Watson and Todd (Renee) Watson; his grandchildren: Shelley (Travis) Thams, Sofia and Anthony Pizzillo, Erin (Zoltan) Graham, Ashley Graham, Derek, Cody, Andrew, and Spencer Watson, and numerous great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his sisters: Angelica Pizzillo, Mary Howard and Margaret Newman.

A Rosary will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home; 2203 N Division St. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Rd.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Spokane American Youth Hockey Association, 6321 N. Addison St, Spokane, WA 99208 or to the Spokane Alzheimer’s Association, 910 W. 5th Ave. Ste# 256, Spokane, WA 99204.
