SPOKANE – Goodwill Industries, 130 E. Third Ave., is having an open house 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

There will be tours of the expanded career and resource center on the second floor, as well as information available about programs and services for veterans and their families.

Camp STIX fundraiser will be Saturday

SPOKANE VALLEY – Camp STIX Diabetes Programs will present its 12th annual dinner and auction Saturday at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road.

The reception and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dinner and live auction.

The event will benefit all Camp STIX activities. The nonprofit organization offers a weeklong camp for children living with type 1, or juvenile, diabetes. No camper is turned away for inability to pay.

Meadowwood women to start golf season

LIBERTY LAKE – The Meadowwood Ladies 18-hole golf club’s season opens April 2 with a continental breakfast, registration and golf at 7:30 a.m. at Meadowwood Golf Course, 24501 E. Valleyway Ave., Liberty Lake.

The club is also starting an early afternoon/evening nine-hole ladies club April 8 at 6 p.m.

Proposals welcome for underpass murals

DOWNTOWN – Spokane Arts is accepting proposals for four murals to be placed at the railroad underpasses on Wall, Howard, Maple and Browne streets.

The call for artists is open to Spokane-area individuals and teams of artists and priority is given to those with roots in the Inland Northwest.

Selected artists will receive a stipend and materials will be provided for their project.

The deadline for applications is April 8.

Watch ‘Happyness’ to benefit women

GARLAND – The Women Helping Women Fund is hosting a benefit showing of “The Pursuit of Happyness,” starring Will Smith, at the Garland Theater, 924 W. Garland Ave., on April 3 at 7 p.m.

The movie is based on the book written by 2014 Women Helping Women Fund keynote speaker Christopher Gardner. Tickets: $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s luncheon is on May 12 and tickets are $125 minimum donation.

Nonprofit Family Promise seeking grant

SPOKANE – Family Promise of Spokane, a nonprofit organization that serves families in need, is competing for $25,000 in Windermere Foundation’s Charity Challenge.

Family Promise executive director Steve Allen said the charity began this year with an $8,000 deficit. Family Charity was formerly known as Interfaith Hospitality.

Hillyard Library offering garden seeds

HILLYARD – The Hillyard Library, 4005 N. Cook St., has a smaller edible and nonedible seed library available to its users.

Patrons may check out a maximum of six packages of both edible plant and ornamental plant seeds.

They are encouraged to bring back seeds from successfully grown heirloom varietals, and to simply grow and enjoy the hybrids.

SPOKANE COUNTY – Registration is open for the Inland Northwest Soccer Assocation’s spring season leagues.

The league has divisions based on gender and age, as well as co-ed divisions.

Play for most divisions start in April, and costs vary.
