People: Efron in altercation with homeless person

Efron
From Wire Reports

Actor Zac Efron got into an altercation with at least one homeless person early Sunday in downtown Los Angeles after the vehicle he and a friend were driving became “stranded,” police officials confirmed.

Officers responded to the scene around 2:25 a.m. Sunday to Temple Street and the 110 Freeway, where Efron, 26, and his friend were waiting, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police Cmdr. Andy Smith said there were indications of an altercation, but no details on what transpired were immediately available. No arrests were made.

Over the past year, the 26-year-old actor has had to deal with a broken jaw he reportedly suffered after slipping in a puddle of water at his home and address rumors that he has secretly been to rehab on two occasions.

Adkins’ wife seeks divorce, custody

The wife of country singer Trace Adkins has filed for divorce and is asking for custody of their three children. Adkins and his wife, Rhonda, have been married for nearly 17 years. She filed for divorce on Monday in Tennessee’s Williamson County, where they live outside of Nashville, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Adkins went into rehab in January after consuming alcohol during a weeklong Country Cruising cruise. The 52-year-old “Celebrity Apprentice” winner canceled his remaining performances on the cruise but had recently performed on the Grand Ole Opry.

A college in upstate New York is offering a summer course on Miley Cyrus. The Saratogian newspaper reports the course will be offered by Skidmore College, a private liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs.

Visiting assistant professor Carolyn Chernoff calls the course “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media.” Chernoff says she’ll focus on the 21-year-old performer and all her incarnations as a way to study such topics as gender, race, class, fame and power.

Jersey town debating ‘Snooki’ show

Officials in the northern New Jersey town of Garfield are discussing whether to allow taping of an MTV show featuring Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s wedding.

The cast member of the reality series “Jersey Shore” and “Snooki and JWoww” spinoff intends to marry her fiancé, Jionni LaValle, at the Venetian banquet hall in Garfield in the fall. The couple have a 1-year-old son. Polizzi’s website says she’s planning a “Great Gatsby”-themed wedding.

Mayor Joseph Delaney tells the Record newspaper that taping in Garfield could be a great thing. But Councilman Frank Calandriello has concerns about how the city would be portrayed. The city’s attorney is reviewing the contract.

“Jersey Shore” featured a cast of over-tanned, over-loud and always pumped-up characters who partied amid personal drama.
