Area roundup: GU’s Alice Kim in 1st place

Gonzaga’s Alice Kim shot a 68 Friday and leads by two strokes after the second round of the MountainView Collegiate Invitational at MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.

GU freshman Ciera Min shot a 76 in the second round and is tied for 14th.

The Bulldogs are in third place – seven shots off the lead – heading into today’s final round.

Track and field

Washington State sophomore Kristine Felix tied for fifth place in the pole vault and junior Erin Allen took sixth in the intermediate hurdles at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

Felix cleared 13 feet, 1 1/2 inches and Allen finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 0.64 seconds.

Baseball

Jared Fisher allowed one earned run in 8 1/3 innings and Trevor Mitsui had three RBIs as Washington (18-5-1, 6-1) beat Southern California (13-11, 3-4) 8-2 in a Pac-12 Conference game in Los Angeles.

• Washington State’s game against San Jose State in Pullman was suspended in the top of the fifth inning with the score tied at 4. San Jose State has the bases loaded with one out.

The game will resume today at 2 p.m.

• Gonzaga’s game in Spokane against Loyola Marymount was postponed due to rain. It is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader today, with the first game starting at noon.

Softball

No. 5 Washington’s game against second-ranked Oregon in Eugene was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

• Community Colleges of Spokane’s doubleheader with Blue Mountain was postponed due to rain. The teams will play a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday at Spokane Falls CC.

Football

Idaho’s first practice of the spring was postponed until March 30 at 3 p.m.
