Support Eddie Eagle

I read with dismay Shawn Vestal’s March 22 article, “Statistics are poor ammo in debate about guns.” It seems Shawn would rather run up and down the riverbank yelling, “Isn’t that awful that gun accidents outweigh legitimate gun use (questionable statistic).”

Instead, he should be getting on his soapbox and advocate for the reinstitution of the Eddie Eagle program, which the National Rifle Association started to teach young people gun safety. Or is that the real problem? The NRA thought of it, and we can’t let the NRA into our schools.

There is a solution, Shawn. Advocate for it.
