My two cents

While shopping recently, I had what can only be described as a very sad experience. My bill was $100.02. The clerk said, “That will be one hundred dollars and point O (not zero) 2 percent.”

I said, “That would be one hundred dollars and two cents.”

The clerk didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. I left, shaking my head and thinking how sad that this young person is a possible future leader of our country. Worse than that, he might have been taught to express dollars and cents that way.
