In brief: Northeast Spokane group hosts pasta sauce cook-off


NORTHEAST SPOKANE – Organizations of Northeast Spokane are having a fundraiser at Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St., from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Noodles for the Neighborhood pits celebrity chefs, including City Council members Amber Waldref and Mike Fagan, against each other in a pasta sauce cook-off. Tickets are $5; $3 for children between 5 and 12; free for children younger than 4.

Forum on crime prevention, Block Watch set by COPS

SOUTH HILL – The Commuity Oriented Policing Services is sponsoring a crime prevention and Block Watch forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St.

The evening includes information about how to start a Block Watch program and crime prevention tips from law enforcement experts.

Sister city group plans trip to South Korea in September

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Spokane-Jecheon Sister City Association is planning a trip to South Korea in September.

The group will attend a traditional Asian medicine exposition that Jecheon hosts every four years. The group will also visit a school of traditional Asian medicine, and do other sightseeing in Jecheon, plus spend three days in Seoul.

The nine-day trip is expected to cost $3,600 per person – including discounted airfare, hotels and most meals – with a deposit by May 15. The group will be limited to 20 people.
