Liberty Lake Blotter: Golf cart on sidewalk runs into utility box

An accident was reported in the 24000 block of East Maxwell Avenue in Liberty Lake on April 21. A caller told police that a golf cart being driven on the sidewalk had hit a utility box, said Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus.

An officer contacted the juvenile girl driving, who said she was waving at some friends and wasn’t paying attention when she hit the box, Asmus said. Three other juveniles were riding in the cart. A parent was called and advised of the rules and regulations governing golf cart use.

Other incidents from April 21-29

April 21: A man in the 22000 block of East Country Vista Drive was cited for assault after reportedly shoving an ex-girlfriend.

April 22: A caller reported trespassers driving toward the water tower on Legacy Ridge. The two were contacted and told to leave the area.

A woman reported leaving her wallet in a shopping cart at Albertsons; it was missing when she returned several minutes later.

April 26: An assault was reported in the 20200 block of East Mission Avenue. A man reportedly pushed a juvenile girl down on the couch and threatened to throw a plate of food at her after she walked in front of him while he was watching television. The man appeared to be intoxicated and was booked into the Spokane County Jail for assault.

Monday: An officer spotted a man he knew was wanted on a felony warrant walking near Barker Road and Broadway Avenue. The man was arrested and taken to the Spokane County Jail.

Arrests: Police made four arrests for driving with a suspended license and one for driving under the influence.

Citations: Officers handed out two citations for expired vehicle registration and three for speeding. Additional citations were given for failure to install a required ignition interlock device and failure to show proof of liability insurance.
