Entitlement of youths

On May 1, I read an editorial from a young girl that seems to epitomize the sense of entitlement of this generation. Yes, I also believe sports are very important in team-building. I captained my Gonzaga Prep soccer team and, regardless of field conditions, we played anywhere, anytime.

A Premier soccer player whines that we need to spend $40 million on increased property taxes so that they can compete with other Premier teams in Seattle. Here is an example of a sense of entitlement so relevant with this generation.

Has she ever paid continual property taxes increases? How about those property owners whose other priorities are mortgage payments, utility bills, saving for college for their kids, car payments, etc. How about putting Premier heads together and figure out a way to either win on any field, or find a way to pay her own way.

I sincerely hope that her constant struggle to find turf and lights for practice is somehow successful. What a difficult journey.
