WSU students may have urinated in public park

Washington State University is looking into a report that a group of its students – males and females – urinated in full view of the public Saturday in Coeur d’Alene’s City Park.

The university was contacted Monday morning by a resident and advised of the incident, said Robert Strenge, assistant director of WSU News.

“The Office of the Dean of Students is reviewing the matter and attempting to confirm the identity of the organization and any WSU students who may have been involved,” Strenge said.

If the university determines that WSU students were engaged in activities that might violate the school’s standard of conduct for students, an investigation will be initiated and witnesses interviewed.

“If appropriate, disciplinary actions may be brought against individual students and student organizations through the WSU Office of Student Standards and Accountability,” Strenge said.

Witnesses in the park Saturday said they saw students wearing “Wazzu Greek” sweatshirts urinate on the back wall of the Museum of North Idaho building in the park. First, three young men relieved themselves.

“More shockingly was what happened next,” an unnamed witness said in a note to Spokesman-Review blogger Dave Oliveria. “Five or six sorority sisters walked up to the wall, immediately adjacent to the boys, dropped their pants and urinated in full view of the entire park and a crowd of approving onlookers from their group.”

The witness also snapped a photo of the incident, which reportedly took place in view of families and many young children.

Another group of the students stepped off one of four buses parked nearby and vomited in shrubbery, the witness said. One of the young women burst into the men’s restroom in the park declaring she badly needed to urinate.
