‘Birdie’ still makes ’em scream

A musical inspired by the screaming masses of fans and hoopla that surrounded Elvis Presley back in the 1950s will be performed for a new generation of teenagers this week at West Valley High School.

“Bye Bye Birdie,” revolves around what happens when a rock ’n’ roll superstar visits a small Ohio town.

The cast: Sam Estabrooks as Albert Peterson; Sydney Wallingford as Rose “Rosie” Alvarez; Colton Long and Grant Gallaher as Conrad Birdie; Emily Vermillion and Morgan Pipkin as Kim MacAfee; Noah Strehlou as Mr. MacAffee; Taylor Cummings as Mrs. MacAfee; Shannon Brandvold and Kristin Norman as Randolph MacAfee; Nick Branson as Hugo Peabody; Maddy Stiles and Macey Howe as Mae Peterson; Allie Highberg and Kamara Berland as Ursula Merkle; Hanna Highberg and Tierny Cathcart as Gloria Rasputin; Colton Long and Grant Gallaher as the Mayor; Bri McGarry as the Mayor’s Wife; Tori Fleury as Mrs. Merkle; Micelli Olmstead as Mr. Johnson; Zach Martinez as Maude.
