Junior Lilac Parade winners announced

The 63rd annual Junior Lilac Parade made its way through the streets of Spokane today, attracting middle school and elementary school bands from all over the area. This year’s theme was “Encore of ‘74.” The parade is sponsored by the Rotaract Club of Spokane. Here are this year’s winners. Grand Sweepstakes: Chase Middle School band and drill team Best adherence to theme: Hamblen Elementary Band, Division 1: West Valley Elementary bands, first place; Northwest Christian Elementary bard, second place. Band, Division 2: North Pines Middle School band, first place; Sandstone Middle School band, second place. Band, Division 3: Centennial Middle School band, first place; Horizon Middle School band, second place. Band, Division 4: Greenacres Middle School band, first place; Evergreen Middle School band, second place. Band, Division 5: Garry Middle School band, first place; Salk Middle School band, second place. Band, Division 6: Northwood/Mountainside bands, first place; Sacajawea Middle School band, second place. Elementary marching unit: Hamblen Elementary, first place; Build It Athletix, second place. Secondary marching unit: Salk Middle School color guard and Salk Middle School drill team, tied for first place; Garry Middle School drill team, second place. Club/Scout organization: Campfire USA, first place; Spokane Silver Spurs and U.S. Navy League Cadet Corp., tied for second place.
