Signed Michigan signed 6-foot-6 guard Aubrey Dawkins to a basketball letter of intent. Dawkins is the son of Stanford coach and former Duke star Johnny Dawkins. Wolverines coach John Beilein says Dawkins’ versatility should be valuable. Dawkins spent 2013-14 playing a postgraduate season at New Hampton Prep in New Hampton, New Hampshire.

Confirmed Arizona confirmed that two-time all-ACC player at Boston College, Ryan Anderson, will transfer to Arizona for his senior season. The 6-foot-9 forward will be eligible for the 2014-15 basketball season. Arizona coach Sean Miller called Anderson “an incredibly productive basketball player” and “a high-character person” whose addition will help during what the coach called a crucial time.

Announced The NCAA men’s basketball rules committee announced they want a stricter interpretation on charge-block calls next season. It still must be approved by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel in June. The most significant change would require defenders to be set in a legal guarding position before an offensive player jumps to draw a charge. If the defender moves in any direction, other than vertically to block a shot, it would be called a block. Other potential changes include expanding the restricted area in front of the basket, calling fouls for defenders who push a leg or knee into the rear end of an opponent and calling a foul on the offensive player if he gained position by pushing back. Those changes would only be used on an experimental basis.

Offered Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel is in contract negotiations to become the president of Youngstown State University. He was one of three finalists at the northeastern Ohio school where he started his college coaching career. Tressel recently was a finalist for but was not chosen to be president at the University of Akron. He has been an administrator at Akron for two years after being forced out at Ohio State following a scandal in which players sold memorabilia for cash and tattoos.
