Age 68

STUTSMAN, Devereux R. February 23, 1946 - May 2, 2014 Dev Stutsman (68), was born in Walla Walla, WA. Dev “Grandpa Duv” Stutsman was larger than life and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He graduated from Cheney High School, Class of 65. Dev served in the US Air Force, and after serving his country, he worked for the State of Washington Department of Transportation as a Field Technician. He finished his career as a hazmat driver for Okay Trucking. Throughout the fall, Dev cheered on his beloved Pittsburg Steelers and Washington State Cougars, and despised anything purple and gold! He was often seen at Cheney High sporting events supporting his children and grandchildren. He was impressive on his Harley motorcycle and enjoyed tooling around in his vintage Chevy pickup. Dev enjoyed time with his son fishing and hunting. He loved debating on any subject, and brought laughter, generosity, and passion to the lives of his loved ones. Survived by loving wife, Sharon Stutsman; sister, Brook Bird (Jerry) of California; son and fellow sportsman, Devereux Stutsman II (Bonnie), Kalispell, MT; beautiful daughters, Rebecca McDowell, Cheney, Tamara Heuschkel, Cheney, Susan Beard (Kevin) of Salt Lake City, UT. He will also be greatly missed by his dear grandsons, Jeffry Heuschkel (Amie), Allen Heuschkel, and Rick Heuschkel (Sarah); and darling granddaughters, Skye Heuschkel, Hana McDowell, Leah Beard, Olivia Beard, Madeline Stutsman, and Ellie Stutsman. Dev has two great-grandchildren who tickled his funny bone, Tate Heuschkel and Ava Heuschkel. In addition, he was loved by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law of Nebraska and South Carolina, cousins, niece, nephew, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence “Bud” Stutsman of Walla Walla, Washington. A brief memorial service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA., on Monday, June 9th, 2014 at 11:15 am. On behalf of his love of country and his companion, Max, his dog, and Ling Ling, the cat, Dev requests donations to Pets for Vets in lieu of flowers. Cheney Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
