Obituary: Ferrell, Roger J.

Age 74

FERRELL, Roger J.

Born August 22, 1939 to Eugene and Catherine Ferrell of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Roger passed away on May 10, 2014 at Hospice House in Spokane, Washington surrounded by family.

Roger was a dedicated family man and friend.

He will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Roger graduated from Crater High School in Central Point, OR and later continued his education at the University of Oregon, University of Miami (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University), and Southern Oregon College.

Roger loved to fly and got his pilot’s license while still in high school; did some crop dusting and flew for Mercy Flights.

After college he flew as a corporate pilot for Agnew Lumber Co. and after moving to Spokane, flew for Washington Water Power.

He was also a certified flight instructor.

He became an insurance agent with John Hancock Co., as well as a Brokerage Manager with Occidental Life Co., and later a General Agent for West Coast Life.

Roger was also a stockbroker and during his retirement years drove school bus and kept us entertained with his stories.

He and his wife Linda enjoyed the motorhome lifestyle and after both were retired, spent several winters in Arizona.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda; his children Jerry (Stacy), Terry (Lin), Dawn (Mike), Kimberly (John); Jean Ferrell, mother of his children; sisters Rebecca (Jim) and Nanette (Ron); two bonus-children Robyn (Chris) and Karene (Doug); 15 grandchildren eight great-grandchildren and two nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on May 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Ft. Wright Dr., Spokane, WA 99224.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Hospice House (South) of Spokane.
