Obituary: Vargo, Lawrence Edward “Larry”

Age 74

VARGO, Lawrence Edward “Larry” (Age 74) Passed away peacefully at Deaconess Medical Center on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2014 after suffering a massive stroke on Friday.

He had suffered several small strokes over the past 18 months, which left him physically limited yet his memory was as sharp as it had always been.

He was our family historian and our Google.

He was born May 25, 1940 to Andrew and Ellen Vargo in Tacoma, WA.

He graduated from Lewis & Clark High School and went on to become a Coug at Washington State University.

He was as loyal a Tiger as he was a Coug.

Larry joined the National Guard, drove a truck across country and worked at the Hostess Bakery in Spokane.

He loved his Scottish ancestry and friends and family were always in his heart.

He loved adventure, experiences and people, and could remember everything.

If you ever needed to talk to someone he was always available.

He is survived by his sister Sonia J. Hews (Raymond), Nephew Rick Bacon and Nieces, Robin Parks (Greg), Tammi Putnam, and Heidi Zimmerman (Don).

Additionally he had two great-nephews and a niece: Andy, Ryan, and Serena, and those he loved as his own: Michael, Cathie, Tommy, Keven, Cherie and Timmy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Zachary.

He will be missed!

Services will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division Street, Spokane, WA, Saturday, May 17 at 1:30 p.m. Burial to commence immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
