Woman arrested for using fake checks to buy cars

By The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Police have arrested a woman they believe has been buying cars listed for sale on Craigslist using fake cashier’s checks under the name Jace Erickson.

Her numerous victims were able to give a detailed description of her to police, including a distinctive tattoo on her neck. Annette M. Paola, 50, is currently in the Spokane County Jail facing three counts of forgery and multiple counts of theft. Paola is a felon whose record includes convictions for forgery, theft and possession of a controlled substance.

A victim contacted police about a fake cashier’s check received for a 1976 Chevy pickup on May 4. Police believe Paola also purchased a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup on May 6 and a 1994 BMW on May 7.

Paola was located in the 2000 block of North Howard Tuesday evening and both stolen pickups were found at the scene. Police also recovered a Audi TT Roadster, which they believe was obtained by Paola on May 1. They are still searching for the BMW.
