Suspect arrested after SWAT standoff

Spokane Police spent several hours this morning attempting to get a barricaded suspect to come out of a Nine Mile Falls home. Blaze E. Smith, 43, finally surrendered after the SWAT team released a chemical agent inside the home. Police tracked a stolen vehicle to the 13000 block of West Pine Bluff Road in Nine Mile Falls around 4:30 a.m. today. Smith initially refused to come out and the SWAT team was called, according to police. Smith was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was also wanted on several warrants.
