Photo: Bold sculpture honors sugar workers

Bittersweet: Visitors view “A Subtlety or the Marvelous Sugar Baby,” by artist Kara Walker, who is known for exploring issues of race, discrimination, sexual exploitation and power in her work, on display inside the former Domino Sugar Refinery, located in Brooklyn, New York. Four tons of sugar were used to create the 35-foot-high sculpture, which wears a kerchief and has slightly exaggerated African features.
