In Brief: Identity of body found in Kootenai County determined

The identity of a body found in the Fernan Lake area of Kootenai County last week has been determined but is not being made public, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Initial information indicated that the body was found after information was received by Spokane investigators and may be connected to one or more cases in Spokane County.

Neither the name nor gender of the victim is being released because investigators fear that releasing information about the victim could compromise the investigation, said sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Stu Miller.

The family of the victim has been notified.

Restaurant robberies might be connected

Police are investigating whether two robberies of Spokane restaurants on Monday are connected.

The first robbery was reported just after 10 a.m. at Subway, 3527 E. Sprague Ave., police said in a news release.

The robber was last seen walking west. He is described as either Hispanic or white with a dark complexion, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, between 20 and 30 years old with a medium build. He was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

The second robbery was reported shortly after 8 p.m. at Taco Time, 303 W. Third Ave., police said. The suspect is described as a white man, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, jeans and dark colored shoes.
