McEuen Park Grand Opening The city of Coeur d’Alene’s revamped park at the base of Tubbs Hill opens this weekend. Splash pad will begin operation for the season and the west side of the park will open with an official ceremony at 11 a.m. and a ribbon cutting at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, followed by a hot dog lunch and live music at the new picnic shelter. 420 E. “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Today through June 1. Presented by Christian Youth Theater. “Rapunzel, a Magical Musical” Continues through Sunday. Presented by Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho. Free Science Center Day For first 150 visitors, sponsored by the Pullman Firefighters Association. The event is slated to include a helicopter landing by LifeFlight, demonstrations by firefighters, an evacuation trailer, special booths, and activities based around fire prevention, in addition to several firefighting vehicles and trucks. Looking ahead

Lantern Fest Family-friendly night out with music, dancing and entertainment. Gates open at 8 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., there will be a lighting of lanterns that will be sent off into the sky. Music, magicians, dancers and various entertainment throughout the night, food trucks, a beer garden and merchandise for purchase. Event ends at 11 p.m. Register online at www.thelanternfest.com or at the door. The rice-paper lanterns can travel 3,000 feet into the sky and are designed to burn out before falling back to the ground. May 30, Stateline Speedway, 1349 N.
