Stanford’s Wilson No. 1

Stanford golfer Cameron Wilson kept his cool after he missed a big putt in the third round of the NCAA tournament. Wilson won the individual national title when he birdied the third hole of a playoff against Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans. Wilson’s win helped Stanford to the top score in team qualifying on Monday and the Cardinal are the top seed for the team match-play quarterfinals today. Washington finished 16th and did not qualify for match play. Wilson bogeyed the final hole of his round, leading to the playoff with Schniederjans. But he managed to focus on the bigger picture on the big day. “The sun was setting, the fescue looked green everywhere, there’s (American) flags everywhere and Ollie is a friend,” Wilson said. “I was just thinking it was all really cool.” – AP
