Heavy showers move in from west

A line of strong showers is currently moving over the Spokane metro area and should continue to bring rain until about 6:30 p.m., the National Weather Service said. The disturbance is moving into the area from the southwest and extends northward into Stevens County. It is expected to track to the northeast. Forecasters said that thunder claps may accompany the passage of the showers. Wind gusts to 35 mph are possible. Deer Park, Cheney, Fruitland and Springdale may see the rain as well.
