1: ArtFest 2014

29th annual art fair features three days of fine music, good food, arts and crafts, and the popular Make-It-Art children’s hands-on art making area.

When: Today, noon-10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be live music until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

2: ‘Blithe Spirit’

In this comedy, novelist Charles Condomine holds a séance in his house to research for his latest book and accidentally raises the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira.

When: Runs through June 15. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

3: Guitarist Bill Frisell

Bill Frisell is more than a jazz guitarist. As the New York Times noted in 2013, he’s “one of the most distinctive and original improvising guitarists of our times,” someone who’s at the forefront of “jazz Americana.” We often read about musicians who’ve “worked with everyone.” Frisell is one of those: his past is dotted with names such as Elvis Costello, Bono, David Sanborn, Petra Haden, Rickie Lee Jones, Marianne Faithful, and film director Gus Van Sant. Today, he performs with Rudy Royston (drums) and Eyvind Kang (viola) from his album, “Beautiful Dreamers” in this SFCC Jazz Presents concert.

4: Spokane Comicon

Eighth annual comic book and pop culture convention featuring special guests, local artists, vendors selling collectibles, all-ages costume contest, panels, gaming, exclusives, freebies and more. Some of the featured guests include Portland’s Jesse Lagers from Syfy reality show “Heroes of Cosplay”; Spokane’s own Charlie Schmidt, creator of Keyboard Cat, and a live appearance from his cat Bento; professional comic artist Joshua Covey of Coeur d’Alene; DC Comics professional artist Alex Sinclair of San Diego; and renowned Spider-Man artist Clayton Crain from Seattle. Canned food donations benefit SCC Student Food Bank.

5: Grand Funk Railroad

The “45 Years of Grand Funk” tour brings to the Inland Northwest the ’70s rock group behind the hits “We’re an American Band,” “Locomotion,” “I’m Your Captain,” “Closer to Home” and “Some Kind of Wonderful.”

7: ‘In My Life: A Musical Theatre Tribute to the Beatles’

Award-winning, smash hit musical biography of the Beatles as seen through the eyes of manager Brian Epstein and featuring the live music of renowned tribute band Abbey Road. This family-friendly musical tale also will feature the Ferris High School String Quartet performing five Beatles ballads.
