Withdrawn Golfer Tiger Woods withdrew from the U.S. Open as he recovers from back surgery that has kept him out of golf for nearly three months. Woods said a week ago that he still has not taken a full swing with a golf club. He had microdiscectomy surgery March 31. Woods last played a tournament at Doral on March 9.

Extended The University of Arizona and basketball coach Sean Miller agreed on a one-year contract extension that will raise his base salary to $1.6 million for the final year of the deal. Miller signed a one-year extension through 2018 last June. He would receive a $100,000 raise in 2019 under the extension.

• Arizona football coach Rich Rodriguez agreed to a two-year contract extension through 2019 that will raise his base salary to $1.9 million.

Awarded Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry won the NBA’s 2013-14 Kia Community Assist Seasonlong Award. The league recognized Curry for “his numerous charitable contributions, fundraising and remarkable generosity in the Bay Area and across the globe.”

Agreed Cagliari president Massimo Cellino agreed to sell the Serie A soccer club to an unidentified American consortium. Cellino, who recently took over Leeds, has been in charge at Cagliari for 22 years but has been frustrated in his efforts to build a new stadium for the Sardinian club.

• ESPN will broadcast nine games of the National Women’s Soccer League this season as part of a one-year deal. Three regular-season games will be on ESPN2, the league said. ESPN2 also will televise two playoff semifinals on Aug. 23 and 24 and the championship on Aug. 31. The NWSL is a nine-team pro league.

Died Self-made billionaire Malcolm Glazer, who owned the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and English soccer’s Manchester United, has died. He was 85. The reclusive Palm Beach businessman had been in failing health since April 2006 when a pair of strokes left him with impaired speech and limited mobility in his right arm and leg.
