Volleyball: Pasco knocks out Gonzaga Prep at 4A regional

Gonzaga Prep’s season ended Tuesday with a 25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22 loss to the host Pasco Bulldogs in a 4A regional opener.

Junior outside hitter Maria Adams had 17 digs and three blocks for G-Prep. Senior OH Rachael Meyer added 10 kills.

Regional shifts to Richland on Saturday. Central Valley and Richland meet at 11 a.m. for the title and state berth. Pasco plays University at 1 p.m. in a loser-out match. The first-game loser and second-game winner meet at 3 for the final state berth.

District 7 1A

Freeman and Lakeside advanced to Saturday’s title match with semifinal sweeps at home.

Hayley Damon had 13 kills and Alisha Straw added 15 digs as Freeman defeated Riverside. Jessica Schmautz had 15 kills and Shannon Gallagher added seven aces as host Lakeside topped Colville.

Freeman will host Lakeside at 1 p.m. Saturday for the No. 1 berth to state. Riverside will meet Colville at 3 in a loser-out match. The first-game loser and second-game winner will meet at 5 for the second state berth.

Regional 2B play-in

Jessi Reed had 11 kills and Hannah Haglin added 10 assists as Wilbur-Creston swept DeSales at Ritzville to advance to Saturday’s eight-team tourney at Cheney High. The Wildcats will play Northwest Christian at 11:45 a.m.
