Assumptions half-cocked

Regarding the Nov. 13 letter by Kenneth Delanoy Sr.:

I resent his name-calling of people who don’t agree with him. He assumes a lot without any knowledge.

As for the rest of his comment, if a person does not take the responsibility that goes with the right to own a weapon seriously enough and they “slip up” and commit a crime, they are no longer “law-abiding” citizens and should not be allowed to own that weapon. It is as simple as that. No tricks involved.

It is slipups like that that allow these weapons to get into the hands of people who commit crimes. There is no right without responsibility. I-594 is an attempt to force people to take this responsibility seriously.
