After just one game, the Gonzaga women’s basketball team moved into the Associated Press Top 25 poll at No. 24 on Monday. The Zags opened their season with a 75-65 victory over then-ranked No. 22 Dayton Sunday. Dayton, also a 76-60 loser to Washington State last Friday, dropped out of the Top 25. Washington State receives 10 votes in the poll. The Bulldogs (1-0) are tied with Georgia (2-0) and Purdue (1-0) with the No. 24 ranking. Gonzaga was just on the outside of the top 25 in the preseason ranking, receiving 28 votes, five spots out. The Zags have appeared in 26 straight AP polls, either receiving votes or in the top 25. Connecticut (1-0) remains the nation’s top-ranked team, collecting all 35 first place votes. Gonzaga hosts Idaho State (0-1) Tuesday at 6.
