Obituary: Olinger, Benjamin L.

Age 89

OLINGER, Benjamin L. October 10, 1925- November 15, 2014 Passed away peacefully at The Gardens on University in Spokane Valley, WA on November 15, 2014.

Mr. Olinger was born on October 10, 1925 in Baker, MT, where he lived with his family on a homestead.

During the Depression, he moved with his father and five siblings to Springdale, WA.

Ben is a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.

He fought under General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany at the end of the war.

Ben married Florence Rathbun in 1949, they were married for over 50 years and had four children.

He worked at Kaiser Aluminum for over 30 years and retired in 1982.

Ben is survived by his daughter, Connie Olinger.

He is preceded in death by his wife Florence, son Michael Olinger and daughters Susan Moller and Kathy Olinger.

He is also preceded in death by his brother, George Olinger and sisters, Madeline Geisler, Louise Kowalski, Mary Olinger and Katherine Parent.

Service will be at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1pm.

He will be laid to rest at Pines Cemetery.
