NFL notes: Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald may not play against Seahawks

Ap

Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald did not practice Wednesday and coach Bruce Arians said the star wide receiver is “iffy” for Sunday’s game at Seattle.

The seven-time Pro Bowl receiver has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his left knee.

He was hurt late in the first half of Sunday’s 14-6 victory over Detroit. He went to the locker room but came back and made a critical 11-yard reception for a first down that sealed the victory.

Arians said the soreness in the knee was a little worse than he thought it would be.

The Cardinals’ career leader in nearly every receiving category, Fitzgerald leads the team this season in receptions (46) and yards receiving (658).

He has started 71 consecutive games, not missing a contest since Dec. 2, 2007.

Vikings claim Tate

The Minnesota Vikings claimed running back Ben Tate off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.

Tate was signed on the same day running backs Matt Asiata (concussion) and Jerick McKinnon (lower back injury) both were held out of practice.

Around the league

Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon is practicing for the first time since his 10-game suspension ended. Gordon, who led the league with 1,646 yards receiving last season, worked out with his teammates and is expected to play Sunday in Atlanta. Gordon had a one-year ban for violating the NFL’s drug policy reduced to 10 games in September. … Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Dwayne Gratz apologized for his arrest in Miami Beach, Florida, over the weekend and vowed to “become a better man.” Gratz was arrested early Sunday after police said he drunkenly tried to use bubble gum to buy items from a store and then refused to leave.
