Mariners claim pitcher off waivers from Miami
SEATTLE – The Seattle Mariners claimed left-hander Edgar Olmos off waivers from Miami on Thursday and added three others to their 40-man roster.
The M’s selected right-hander Mayckol Guaipe, catcher John Hicks and infielder Ketel Marte for their major league roster.
The Mariners also acquired right-hander Sam Gaviglio from St. Louis in exchange for minor league infielder Ty Kelly.
Olmos, 24, pitched at Double- and Triple-A this year. He appeared in five games for Miami in 2013.
Guaipe, 24, spent the 2014 season at Double-A Jackson and made 40 relief appearances.
Hicks, 25, split last season between Jackson and Triple-A Tacoma, hitting .290 in 81 games.
Marte, 21, was a Southern League All-Star after hitting .302 at Jackson before a late promotion to Tacoma.
