Snow possible in parts of western Washington

Associated Press

SEATTLE – As temperatures dove from the mid-50s down to the lower 40s and upper 30s, the National Weather Service warned that some areas of northwest Washington could see 1 to 3 inches of lowland snow through today, although most affected areas were expected to see less than 1 inch.

The forecast for Seattle said the overnight snow accumulation into this morning was likely to be less than a half-inch.

Flood warnings continued for several Western Washington rivers after heavy rainfall.

The Skagit Valley Herald reported Friday that the Skagit River at Concrete had spilled over its banks. Concrete Mayor Jason Miller says he’s not concerned about the flooding having a major impact on the town. The river was expected to crest today in Mount Vernon, where Mayor Jill Boudreau said she was confident a new floodwall downtown would keep the city dry.

The Weather Service said the Snohomish River has risen above flood stage near the Snoqualmie Valley towns of Monroe and Snohomish.
