Prep roundup: Vikings rally to defeat Bengals in volleyball

Megan Ramseyer had 31 kills and 25 assists and Coeur d’Alene rallied to beat two-time defending state champion Lewiston in five sets in an Inland Empire League 5A volleyball match Thursday night in Coeur d’Alene.

Scores were 24-26, 20-25, 25-17, 25-21 and 15-10.

Delaney Schmidt had seven aces and Missy Huddleston added 23 digs for the Vikings (3-1). Lewiston fell to 3-1 in the IEL.

• Jordan Phelan had 19 kills and four aces and Emily Sior dished out 37 assists as East Valley (6-0) swept West Valley (0-6) in a Great Northern League match at West Valley. Scores were 25-9, 25-20 and 25-17.

Jordyn Rauer had six kills and three blocks for the Eagles.

• Tori Zeimantz had 11 kills and three aces and Kayla Snider also had three aces to go along with 16 digs and Clarkston (3-2) beat Cheney (1-5) in a GNL match in Cheney. Scores were 25-16, 25-15, 11-25 and 25-21.

Peyton Stark had 12 assists and two aces to lead the Blackhawks.

• Jordan Schwartz had 13 digs and Marley Chambers dished out 27 assists as Kellogg (2-1) edged Priest River (0-3) in five sets in an Intermountain League match at Priest River.

Scores were 25-17, 15-25, 28-26, 23-25 and 15-12.

Megan Whitman had 15 kills and four aces and Lily Lucky handed out 31 assists to lead the Spartans.

Girls soccer

Shannon Srucci’s goal in the 35th minute was all East Valley needed in a 1-0 Great Northern League win at West Valley.

West Valley (7-2, 5-1) outshot East Valley (5-2, 4-2) 8-6, but the Eagles couldn’t get any past Knights keeper Mecheala Sund, who made seven saves.

• Brook Morrow scored twice and Clarkston (6-1, 4-1) blanked Cheney (1-9, 1-5) 3-0 in a GNL match in Cheney. Morrow’s first goal came in the 14th minute. She scored again in the 54th minute.

Ryen Nicholas scored the Bantams’ other goal in the 31st minute. All three goals were unassisted.

Boys soccer

Thomas Cook scored twice in the second half and St. Maries (7-4, 3-2) defeated Priest River (2-9, 2-5) 4-1 in an Intermountain League match in St. Maries.

Cook scored in the 48th minute to open the scoring. In the 52nd minute, Cook received a deep cross and snapped a header past the keeper to put the Lumberjacks ahead 3-0. Johnnes Padel and Trevor Fredricks also scored for St. Maries.

Tyler Jones scored Priest River’s lone goal. It came in the 66th minute.
