McMorris Rodgers absent

On Sept. 29, the Washington Examiner published a report on congressional House members who have missed more than two-thirds of their committee meetings. Lo and behold, our own Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is No. 2 on the hit parade with a whopping 92 percent absentee rate. And yet, McMorris Rodgers touts her positions on various committees as enabling her to be a powerful, effective advocate for Eastern Washington families.

Her office spokesman’s excuse for her startling lack of participation was “her duties as chairman of the House Republican Conference include leadership meetings that conflicted with most energy and commerce hearings, and that family situations kept her away from others.”

I’d like to know what Eastern Washington taxpayers are getting for the $194,000 plus benefits per year we pay her.
