Prep roundup: Coeur d’Alene girls, boys win Can-Am cross country

The Coeur d’Alene girls and boys cross country teams won titles Saturday at the Can-Am Invitational in Kettle Falls.

West Valley, however, had the top male and female finishers. The Eagles’ Skylar Ovnicek won the boys race after completing the 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes, 28 seconds. Republic’s Duncan Forsman was second in 16:48.

The Deer Park boys were second and West Valley was third. Coeur d’Alene’s top finisher was Jose Winton, who took sixth in 17:19.

West Valley’s McCall Skay won the girls’ 5,000-meter race in 18:41. Coeur d’Alene’s Josie Brown was second in 19 minutes. The Chelan girls were second, followed by Deer Park and Freeman.

• Pullman, led by Tim Pendry’s sixth-place finish, won the boys team title at the Pasco Invitational in Pasco.

Pendry finished the 5,000-meter course in 17:20.10.

East Valley’s Brittany Aquino won the girls’ 5,000-meter race in 19:31 and the Knights took fourth place. Southridge was first and Pullman was second.

Boys soccer

Collin Stone scored twice to guide Bonners Ferry (8-5, 6-0) past St. Maries (7-5, 3-3) 4-1 in an Intermountain League match in St. Maries.
