Souls have hardened

I am gladdened and thankful for hearts like Becky Woodruff’s (“Losing humanitarianism,” Sept. 26). Sometimes it appears that we care more for animals than we do our own.

Who would seriously contend that any parent would allow a child to make such a dangerous, arduous journey from Central America unless the situation at home was unbearable? Those are hard souls who call for deportation sans any investigation as to the causes. Souls bound for perdition.
