Spokane man dies in head-on collision

A 19-year-old Spokane man died when his car collided head-on with a semi trailer on Trent Avenue in Spokane Valley Wednesday morning, the Washington State Patrol said. Michael A. Corder was driving a 1996 Subaru Impreza west on Trent near Campbell Road just before 5 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line east of Campbell Road, the WSP said. His car collided with an eastbound 2012 Freightliner Boom Truck driven by Cory S. Beckham, 37, of Spokane. Beckham suffered minor injuries. Corder died from his injuries at a local hospital, the WSP said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. No charges are expected.
