Four arrested in connection with South Hill burglaries

Spokane police arrested four people Saturday night in connection with a string of residential and garage burglaries around Manito Park and Comstock Park. Delbert Ockey, 19 and Dovin J. Sanders, 20 were arrested along with two teenagers after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle, police Capt. Dave Richards said. The arrests came after residents reported approximately 18 residential and 27 garage burglaries in a 28 day period, many involving stolen bikes and electronics. Richards said police believe the crimes were linked due to similarities in the items taken and the methods of entry, but declined to say what those methods were. In response to the reports, police followed up with additional patrols in the area by members of the Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team. Police believe Rebecca L. Turner and Joshua S. Skog, both arrested Friday night near 29th and Bernard in a stolen car, may be involved in the burglaries. Richards said police are also pursuing additional suspects. “We believe there are other suspects and we know who they are,” he said. Following the arrests, there were no calls for police service in the affected area Monday. “I think we got part of our problem in jail,” Richards said. Police are encouraging residents to lock their cars and secure garage door openers so they cannot be used to gain entry to a house. Suspicious people or vehicles should be reported to police, Richards said.
