Area Roundup: Whitworth beats Whitman on late goal by Hannah Bokma

Hannah Bokma scored the lone goal in the 89th minute, lifting Whitworth to a 1-0 women’s soccer win over visiting Whitman on Wednesday.

Andrea Stump had four saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season for the Pirates (4-8-1, 3-6), who split the season series with Whitman.

• Jaimee Hulst and Taylor Peterson each scored first-half goals as North Idaho College won 2-1 at Yakima Valley.

Hulst scored on a corner kick four minutes into the match. Peterson broke the 1-all tie, scoring from the 18-foot mark on a cross from Sydney Sol.

• The Spokane Falls women defeated visiting Walla Walla 2-0 to clinch a playoff spot.

Makenzie Welch opened the scoring for the Sasquatch just two minutes in and Hannah Sanders scored off a corner kick at 24 minutes.

• Robert Smith had the equalizer for the CC Spokane men at the 84th minute to forge a 2-2 draw with visiting Walla Walla.

Alex Opland scored in the 17th minute for Spokane, which overcame an early own goal and trailed 2-1 for most of the second half.

Volleyball

Jenna Widman, Carmen Richardson and Siera English each finished with nine kills and CC Spokane swept Big Bend 3-0 in Spokane.

The scores were 25-14, 25-14 and 25-12. Emily Russell had 35 assists and Jacy Vining had 11 digs for the Sasquatch. Spokane had 44 kills.
