Better uses for money

So, Spokane Mayor David Condon feels himself worthy of a $7,000 raise next year, granting himself an estimated $180,000 annual gross, and advocates similarly for his own appointees. He takes after his former employer and our current and soon-to-be-former congressional representative, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who opposes increases to the minimum wage, thus keeping many hard-working, middle-class workers in near poverty.

First, Spokanites better take a look at the local budget before it is passed and ask the mayor how he feels about raising the minimum wage, and encourage him to at least hire a few more minimum-wage workers to fill potholes. There are many ways those extra dollars could be put to better use.

Then, rather than keep voting to fund the deep pockets in Spokane and San Diego’s 1 percent, with whom McMorris Rodgers also spends time while missing 92 percent of assigned committee meetings, vote for Joe Pakootas, a local breath of fresh air!
