Obituary: Spitzer, Edmund Homer “Fast Eddie”

Age 84

SPITZER, Edmund Homer “Fast Eddie” October 7, 1930 - October 13, 2014 “Eddie” peacefully entered his rest on October 13, 2014.

Born to Chris and Eva Spitzer in Elk Grove, CA, he was the last living survivor of 15 children.

He married his childhood sweetheart Adele Golder on October 8, 1950.

In January 1964 they opened Spitzer’s Choice Meats in Fair Oaks, CA, which they successfully operated until he retired in 1980 to manage their rental property and establish an Arabian horse ranch in Carmichael, CA.

He was an active member of Spokane Country Club since 2002 when he moved to Spokane after the loss of his sweetheart Adele in 2001.

Whether he was betting with his buddies on the golf course, or taking money from them on the gin table, he was always having a good time, and you had a good time when you were with him.

Numerous fishing trips to Montana with his good buddies were always a highlight for him.

He also enjoyed dancing at the Eagles and thought he was Fred Astaire on the dance floor, and he kind of was.

He was a lifetime fan of the SF Giants and the 49er’s and he’d never let you forget it.

He had many friends that he’d do anything for with his many handyman abilities.

If you knew him, you liked him and never forgot him.

He was loved by all.

He is survived by his three children and son-in-law, Connie Spitzer Slackman (Russ) Slackman of Spokane, WA, Jeff Spitzer of Spirit Lake, ID and Les Spitzer of Palm Bay, FL.

He leaves behind six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family requests any memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project at woundedwarriorsproject.org.
