WSP arrests Deer Park man in hit-an-run fatality

State troopers have arrested a man they accused of striking and killing a pedestrian on the side of a highway on Wednesday in north Spokane County, the Washington State Patrol reported. Orlan W. Knuth, 35, was driving a 1988 Chevy pickup on U.S. Highway 2 just north of Nevada when his vehicle allegedly struck Joshua B. Lee, 31, who was walking on the paved shoulder of the highway. Knuth allegedly fled the scene. He was later booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatality accident. Lee, of Deer Park, was alive when he was found but died after he was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, WSP said. Earlier in the day, WSP said that Lee had been struck sometime between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m.
