‘Death’ becomes thrilling two-parter

“Death Comes to Pemberley”: So much for the happily-ever-after that Jane Austen gave us in “Pride and Prejudice.” In P.D. James’ enticing mash-up of period drama and whodunit, Mr. Darcy (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Anna Maxwell) are six years into their marriage when a murder implicating the caddish Mr. Wickham (Matthew Goode) rocks their palatial country estate. As the thrilling two-parter unfolds, dark secrets are exposed and a scandal mounts, threatening all the Darcys hold dear. Sunday, 8 p.m. KSPS; 9 p.m., KCDT.

SUNDAY: We can only imagine what the body count will be when “Boardwalk Empire” ends its distinguished run tonight. Will Nucky (Steve Buscemi) survive the all-out war he’s been waging? (9 p.m., HBO).

MONDAY: Guest-star alert: In the Season 4 premiere of “2 Broke Girls,” Kim Kardashian drops by. But, no, she’s certainly not broke. 8 p.m., CBS.

MONDAY: Produced by Mick Jagger, “Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown,” is an exhilarating profile that mainly focuses on the musical contributions and social activism of the “hardest working man in show business.” 9 p.m., HBO.

MONDAY: “Mike Tyson Mysteries” is a new animated “Adult Swim” comedy that has the former boxing champ solving problems in the style of “Scooby Doo” and Mr. T. We only hope that no ears are chomped in the process. 10:30 p.m., Cartoon Network.

TUESDAY: “The Rise of ISIS” is the latest offering from “Frontline.” It’s a chilling, in-depth look at how the brutal terrorist group became such a major force so quickly. 9 p.m., KSPS; 10 p.m., KCDT.

TUESDAY: Disorder in the court? “Benched” is a new comedy about a top-notch corporate lawyer (Eliza Coupe), who after an epic meltdown, is banished to the rough-and-tumble world of public defenders. 10:30 p.m., USA.

WEDNESDAY: Tom Hollander shines in the new TV film, “A Poet in New York.” It’s a heart-wrenching look at the final days of revered poet Dylan Thomas, whose self-destructive ways led to his death in 1953 at the age of 39. 8:30 p.m., BBC America.

THURSDAY: The 12th and final season of “Two and a Half Men” begins with Walden (Ashton Kutcher) trying to adjust his life priorities after experiencing a health scare on Halloween. 9 p.m., CBS.

THURSDAY: Are you on pins and needles waiting for Season 4 of “Project Runway All-Stars”? The competition kicks off tonight as 14 designers return for redemption – and to talk mess about each other. 9 p.m., Lifetime.

FRIDAY: On “Hawaii Five-0,” it’s Halloween in Honolulu and the team is busy trying to track down a serial killer who is copying murders depicted in a cult slasher film. 9 p.m., CBS.

SATURDAY: “Saturday Night Live” continues its 40th anniversary celebration by welcoming back alum Chris Rock (1990-’93) as tonight’s host. He’ll be joined by Prince, serving as the show’s musical guest. 11:30 p.m., NBC.
