Area roundup: No. 2 Huskies sweep USC in volleyball
The second-ranked University of Washington volleyball team swept three tight sets from No. 20 USC Wednesday night in a Pac-12 match at Los Angeles.
The Huskies (22-0, 11-0) scored a 26-24, 26-24, 25-23 victory over the Trojans (12-9, 5-6).
Krista Vansant led the Huskies with 17 kills on .325 hitting. She also had 10 digs.
Bailey Tanner and Katy Beals each had 23 assists for the Huskies while Cassie Strickland helped Washington with 25 digs.
Women’s soccer
Rashelle Fisher, Sarah Melvin and Maddie Brown scored for CC Spokane in a 3-0 Northwest Athletic Conference victory over Columbia Basin (6-9-4, 6-7-4) at Spokane Falls CC.
Samantha Burmester recorded the shutout for the Sasquatch (19-2-1, 15-1-1).
• Washington State forward Kaitlyn Johnson was named a Primetime Performer by CollegeSoccer360.com for the period of Oct. 20-26 after scoring two goals and adding an assist during a pair of wins.
The sophomore scored the game-winning goal in the second half of the Cougars’ 2-1 victory last Friday. She followed that with a goal and an assist in WSU’s 4-2 win at Utah on Sunday.

Jesus Torres, Devin Leon and Brandon Babinski scored for CC Spokane (9-8-1, 7-5-1) in a 3-0 victory over Columbia Basin (7-5-1) at Spokane Falls CC.
